Hello folks,
We’re now officially in the second half of term, so it’s only downhill from here! Not to worry: we still have an action-packed week coming up for all those OUCB-inclined.
Rehearsal
As ever, we’re in Cohen Quad for rehearsal this week on Tuesday, starting at 8pm. We’ll then head on over to the Royal Blenheim for a session until closing time (11pm). At risk of sounding like a stuck record, we’ll be playing from the new folder (online here), which can be purchased in a nice and fancy ring-bound format for £5 — please bring cash.
Gig on Saturday
We have a gig coming up this week! Apparently, it’s for the “Annual inter-university bell ringing competition”, so if you’d like to know what exactly that entails do come along! Details and sign-up below:
Location: St Matthew's Church Hall, 63 Marlborough Rd, Oxford OX1 4LW
Set-up: 19:30–20:30
Ceilidh: 20:30–22:00
Pack-up: 22:00–22:30
Sign-up here
Folk Round Here
We also have the debut Folk Round Here event coming up! A cross between an open mic night and a gig from a local band, it’ll be a great way to get an insight into the local folk scene. You can buy tickets here and/or sign up for an open mic slot here if you’d like a cheaper ticket. The local band we’ll be hearing from is the excellent Bailey and Keely, whose debut album Atthomis was released last year. Spread the word, bring your friends, and sign up for a slot!
Tune of the Week
This week, we have the rather bizarrely named Dog à l’orange, composed by Niall Vallely and played here by Talisk.
Session Round-up
As ever, the Beck™ Oxford Folk Sessions calendar is available here.
Sunday (now!): English @ Gulp Fiction, 1pm
Sunday (later!): Irish+ at the Half Moon, 8pm
Monday: Singaround at the Half Moon, 8pm
Friday: Bastard English at the Isis Farmhouse, 8pm
See you on Tuesday,
Finn
