Hello folks,
Thank you to those of you who played at the gigs on Friday and Saturday, especially the first-timers! Although we’re still in the OUCB marathon of back-to-back gigs, that should thankfully chill out a bit after this week…
Public Ceilidh
Public Ceilidh is tomorrow! Tickets are available on our website here, or they will be available on the door. We have a fairly strict venue capacity, so if you’re dragging your friends along (which you absolutely should do), make sure they have tickets pre-bought so they aren’t disappointed! The whole event is incredibly chill because we’re the ones in charge, and any and all skill levels are welcome — for dancing, playing, or even calling. The sign-up sheet is below, and if you’re at all interested in trying out calling please speak to our Gigs Officer, Eva.
Public Ceilidh (27/10/2025)
Location: Jesus College Digital Hub, Market Street, OX1 3EF (opposite Wagamama)
Set-up: 18:00–19:00
Ceilidh: 19:00–21:30
Pack-up: 21:30–22:00

Because we’re running this event ourselves, that also means we’ll need people on the doors and on the bar. Keep an eye out for the gig email (later today or early tomorrow), where I’ll devise a rota to sort this out.
Rehearsal and new folders
This week (and in future weeks this term), we’re back in Cohen Quad for rehearsal, on Tuesday night from 8–10pm as normal. After playing some new tunes and sampling some biscuits, we’ll head over to the Royal Blenheim for a session until closing (11pm).
This week, we will also be distributing our brand new folders! We’ve had 40 treble folders specially printed, and they’ll be handed out on a first-come-first-served basis. A folder will cost a mere £5 to offset the cost of getting it printed. For ease, please bring cash! As a reminder, the folder (including bass and alto equivalents, soon to be joined by Bb) is available online here.
Tune of the Week
Rounding Malin Head, a tune by Zoë Conway, whom some of us had the pleasure to see in concert last week. It’s played here on her trio album, with Dónal Lunny and Máirtín O'Connor.
Session Round-up
Another plug for Calum’s Oxford Folk Sessions calendar, available here.
